Best places to visit in South Africa

Cape Town:  A cosmopolitan city nestling between a range of mountains and the sea.  Cape Point, towards the south of the city is home to abundant wildlife and diverse botanical wonders. One of Cape Town’s top attractions is the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront

Kruger National Park:  It is one of Africa’s largest game reserves, and boasts of a large variety of wild animals includes the Big 5.

Cape Winelands ( Boland Basin): Most of South Africa’s vineyards are located in Boland Basin, and the place is a visual treat. Besides, this region is also home to great food joints.

Cape Peninsula: This is a very scenic drive through Chapman’s peak to Cape point and Cape of Good Hope. And , yes the African Penguins on Boulder’s beach are a bonus

Hermanus –The Whale Coast:This place is famous for its whale watching, and the drive to Hermanus greets you with great views of mountains and sea.

Garden Route: The Garden Route is around 200 kilometres, along the south east coast. This popular driving route passes through rolling green hills, coastal towns, lagoons, lakes, and coastal cliffs. Highlights of the route include the charming town of Knysna snuggled between dense forests and a sparkling lagoon.

Simon’s town & Boulder’s Beach: Simon’s town is a small town near Cape town and Boulder’s beach is the highlight there. A beautiful beach with white sand , crystal clear water & granite boulders, it is also  home to some 20000 plus penguins.

Knysna : One of the along the Garden Route is Knysna, this small town is perfect for nature, wildlife and adventure lovers, and also for travellers who just want to relax in a quaint town. Knysna Heads & Knysna Lagoon are not to be missed.

Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve, Mpumalanga

Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve is a stop on the drive between Johannesburg and Kruger National Park. It is home to Africa’s second largest canyon and also diverse wildlife.

Johannesburg: It is the most common entry port to South Africa, it is a vibrant city and a visit to Soweto Township is a must.

Things to note

The climate in South Africa varies from region to region and makes it a round the year destination:  May to October is good for Kruger National Park and whale safari, while the Cape is good between November to February.  The Garden Route can experience rain at any time of year.
