Why visit Egypt?

Egypt Map Outline

Egypt – the place where time stood still! The only ancient civilization with many of its monuments intact, it is a journey back in time. We marvel at monuments back home or in other locations, which are 500-600 years old, but quite a different experience when you stand small before a 4,500-year-old colossus, one of the 7 wonders of the Ancient world and the largest man-made structure for nearly 4,000 years!

Is Egypt just about the Pyramids? Absolutely not! Beyond the famous Pyramids of Giza, Egypt welcomes you with the now benevolent Nile, ancient sand covered tombs, towering temples and smaller ancient pyramids. Become an explorer, a historian and a storyteller, while you go through the monuments of different time periods in history – from the first Pharaonic dynasty of the Old Kingdom to the Greeks and then the Romans, the Christians and finally the Arabs.

Egypt is a journey for the curious: Discover the only relief of Cleopatra in Egypt, the only image of Alexander the Great as a Pharaoh, the futuristic inscriptions in Abydos (helicopter, submarines, fighter planes – as you may interpret), the only inscriptions of a horse or an elephant in Dendara, the astounding Zodiac ceiling, the King’s list spanning three Kingdoms and 76 Pharaohs; Learn the different stories of gods adopted by the Pharoahs to convince the masses of their superiority, to lend legitimacy to their rule; the elaborate attention to death and the afterlife; Get awed by the treasures buried in the Pharaonic tombs (many of which are now in museums).

Egypt is not only for the History buffs – enjoy the beauty of the Nile cruise, swim in the pristine waters of the Red Sea and relax in the green comfort of the Desert oases. This lovely country has lots to offer for every kind of traveller.

Best time to visit Egypt is from April to October.

Best places to visit in Egypt?

Cairo: The modern capital city of Egypt has a long and turbulent history and is the right place for explorations of the Pyramids at Giza.

Alexandria: It was founded by Alexander the Great in 331 BC (and derives its name from the Alexander and was once a bustling city. It used to have a library with more than 500000 books Though the city was destroyed by devastating earthquakes in the 14th century and is nothing when compared to of its former glorious self, still reflects the glimpses of its past.

Luxor: Once the capital and a strong kingdom of Egypt, Luxor is known for its ancient temples of Karnak and Luxor, as well as the royal tombs of the Valley of the Kings and Queens, surrounded by desert and river.

Aswan: Egypt’s southernmost city,  Aswan is the base for excursions to the temples of Philae and Kabasha and to the Sun Temple of Ramses II at Abu Simbel. One can cover the temples of Kom Ombo and Edfu, from Aswan.

Hurghada: Once a fairly small and unimposing fishing village, located next to the Red Sea with a number of sandy beaches, Hurghada today is a beach town with a lot of adventure sports options. Or it is a great place to just relax.

Dahshur is a cemetery located in the desert on the west bank of the Nile. Compared to Giza and Saqqara, it is a more quiet location to see some very large pyramids.

Sharm-El-Sheikh:  Meant for beach lovers, this resort town is between the desert of the Sinai Peninsula and the Red Sea

What our Travellers Say

Nidhi and SandyBeyonder Traveller - Africa - Kenya

We travelled to Kenya with Beyonder who looked into every single detail and curated the entire trip and I’d recommend them to everyone. We felt safe and comfortable throughout the trip and did not have to lift a finger. They also personalize your trip according to what you need. Highly recommend Beyonder.

Mandar SalunkheBeyonder Traveller - Africa - Kenya & Tanzania

ou handheld us right from the initial itinerary planning and air ticket bookings. Your expert advice was surely valued and this made sure that our trip started in the right way. The accommodations as well as the tour partner at Kenya were great and quite up to our expectations.

This was probably one of the best tours we had done together as a family. Africa’s wilderness makes you realize why animals should be free rather than in a zoo. The energy and vitality shown by the free animals is seldom seen by zoo animals, and hence makes this an unforgettable experience. This is the Lion King and National Geographic documentaries all rolled in one. The only thing missing is David Attenborough explaining about the animal albeit the tour guide arranged by you did quite a good job with his Attenborough style explanations on the numerous animals that we saw.

Africa’s wilderness should be a must visit place in everyone’s tourism bucket list, and Beyonder is doing a damn good job in making it happen.
